FAQs

What organizations can apply for funding?

General student organizations that are not sponsored by a University of Mississippi department are eligible to apply for funding. Department-sponsored RSOs are those with a campus advisor whose job description includes the responsibility of overseeing that organization. If you are unsure whether your organization qualifies as department-sponsored, please consult your campus advisor for clarification.

Can I request funding for events?

Registered student organizations may not request funding for events. These private funds are intended to support organizations’ small promotional and operational expenses.

How are requests reviewed?

Requests are reviewed on a weekly basis by ASB’s Department of the Treasury. Funding will be allocated based on shown organizational need and total available funds.

Is this like Student Activity Fee funding?

No, these funds have been provided by generous donors, not student activity fees. In consultation with student leaders, the University has created a new model to provide student programming funded by student activity fees. The new model provides more university-sponsored events using the student activity fees, in place of distributing student activity fees directly to registered student organizations to host programming.
